How can business help?
Ride & Shop™

Every time an older person stops driving, a business runs the risk of losing a customer. The Ride & Shop program brings paying customers right to the door, then helps them with their packages as they leave. It is simple for a business to join the Ride & Shop program, and ITN takes care of all the administrative cost and paperwork. Contact us for more information. Businesses can also help by donating small gifts for volunteers, office supplies, certificates for car washes, oil changes, gas, etc.

By acting as social entrepreneurs and following proven business practices, ITN doesn't have to rely on taxpayer support for operating expenses. In fact, ITN actually helps drive the local economy and build community. The impact to the local business community of one ITN affiliate is between $300,000 and $500,000 per year. By 2010, the expected annual economic impact of ITN affiliates will be as much as twenty million dollars.

How can healthcare providers help?
Healthy Miles™

Just when a person most needs healthcare, they may be least able to drive, and adult children may be unable to leave work to help. That's where the Healthy Miles program comes in, and ITN does the driving. Among other benefits, Healthy Miles helps patients arrive on time and cancel fewer appointments. Contact us for more information.

Businesses can help older patients arrive safe, sound and on time.

How can groups help?
Host a Community Tea

If you have an ITN affiliate in your community, please consider hosting a Community Tea to educate potential members and volunteers about the service. To organize a Community Tea, all you need to do is invite your group—ITN does all the rest, including invitations, homemade cookies and cakes, brochures, and an ITN staff member to explain the service and answer any questions.

How can family members help?

Family members care deeply when a parent, grandparent or spouse struggles with safe driving. How can they help, without undermining their loved one's independence?

With ITN's door-through-door, arm-through-arm service, older family members are as safe as if their own children were there to open the door and carry the packages.

Adult children can help manage their parents' Personal Transportation Account™ by having the monthly statements sent directly to them. There is also a Gift Certificate Program to help pay for rides. It's a great idea for Mother's Day, birthdays, holidays, etc.

Adult children who live in any community with an ITN affiliate can earn transportation credits by volunteering to drive seniors. Because ITNAmerica is a nationally affiliated system, their parents may use those credits to pay for rides in the community where they live, even if they are located thousands of miles away.

Family members may also support The Independent Transportation Network by joining as dues paying members (even if you don't qualify to ride), by donating a car or by helping with community fundraisers.
